I’ve gotten five orders in the past couple days… cookies are up to $5/dozen, which is exciting for me. I still think it’s crazy that people are actually buying my stuff!

Also, I’ve been offered my first official job- a country club wants me to be their pastry chef, at least for the summer. Still figuring out the technicalities, but still. Eek :)

It’s just starting to dawn on me that all these crazy baking dreams might actually be possible. And that is an incredible, incredible feeling.

On another note, we’re on the breakfast unit in cooking. Eggs took awhile to get the hang of, but I think I’ve got them down (or, at least, the sunny-side up and over-easy varieties. I’ve still got poached to conquer…).

It was great. I worked the carving station for a local restaurant opening in May…

On the menu:

Smoked ribs (apple & honey glaze)
House-made Polish sausage (also smoked)
Various dipping sauces (one was smoked apple… AMAZING)
Apple-fennel coleslaw

It was an amazing experience! I met a lot of local chefs and teachers of local culinary schools, so it also gave my networking a little boost.

…On the flipside, I still smell like smoked BBQ. Even after two showers. Pretty sure I will forever smell of delicious smokiness.

Beginning to accept that, as a female, it's impossible to look attractive whilst wearing chef whites.
